How we filter and monitor internet usage
Online Safety: Filtering and Monitoring at Wensleydale School
At Wensleydale School, we’re committed to keeping our pupils safe online. We use Smoothwall filtering and monitoring systems to help protect students when using the school’s IT system. Our filtering system blocks access to harmful sites and content, while our monitoring system identifies when a user accesses or searches for certain types of harmful content on school devices, alerting us so we can intervene and respond appropriately.
What This Means for Our School Community
We have appropriate filtering and monitoring systems in place, which we review regularly for effectiveness. Our leadership team and relevant staff understand these provisions and know how to escalate concerns when identified.
While no filtering and monitoring system is 100% effective, we use Smoothwall alongside our existing safeguarding systems and procedures to provide the best possible protection for our pupils.
Our Commitment
We identify and assign clear roles and responsibilities for managing our filtering and monitoring systems, review our provision at least annually, block harmful and inappropriate content without unreasonably impacting teaching and learning, and have effective monitoring strategies in place that meet our safeguarding needs.
