Ofsted Report

Under the new Ofsted inspection framework, which no longer gives schools a single overall grade, we are delighted that Wensleydale School was judged to meet the expected standards across the areas inspected, with Inclusion recognised as a real strength of the school and safeguarding standards met.
The last ofsted report was carried out on 12 May 2026.

Key highlights include:

  • Inclusion is recognised as a Strong standard and a key strength of the school
  • Safeguarding standards are met, with a positive culture where pupils are made safer and feel safe
  • There is a strong sense of community at Wensleydale School, where everyone is welcome
  • Positive relationships between staff and pupils help pupils feel seen and included
  • Pupils attend well, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities
  • Lessons are calm and purposeful, with minimal disruption to learning
  • Enrichment is an entitlement for all pupils, with a wide range of opportunities that help pupils build confidence and broaden their experiences
  • Leaders and governors understand the school’s strengths and areas for development, and continue to drive improvement.

Exam Performance in 2024

Progress 8 Score:  -0.08 ( this means the progress of students is in line with the national average)

How many students achieved a grade 5 or above in English and Maths: 25.4%

How many students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Maths: 50.7%

Average Attainment 8 Score per student: 4.14

English Baccalaureate (EBacc) average point score: 3.5

Percentage of students that enter the EBacc: 18.3%

Percentage of students staying in education or going into employment after KS4: 92%

There were no students in Year 13 this summer and therefore no results to report.

These results may improve further in January 2025 as not all of the remarks from the summer exams have been included.
