Do you want to work in a school that is friendly, supportive and close-knit, but whose ambitions for its students are not limited by its size?
Are you excited by the opportunity to help a school move from Good, widely praised by Ofsted, to one that is recognised as being Outstanding?
If so, The Wensleydale School and Sixth Form College is the school for you.
We are situated in the heart of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, a spectacular place to live and work. While this means that we may be smaller than the average secondary, it does not mean that our desire to achieve excellence for our students is in any way diminished.
In fact, we punch above our weight in everything that we do.
Our 2017 results were significantly above the national average. In debating, we compete against leading independent schools in national finals. We are very proud of our successes on the sports field, taking home trophies from many of the local sporting competitions. Our enrichment activities and trips are the envy of many other schools.
Our offer
Our desire for the very best for our students is mirrored by our desire to support our staff. We offer:
- A thorough induction and a 1:1 Senior Leadership Team (SLT) mentor for your first year
- Enhanced personal and professional development
- The opportunity to fast track your career to middle leadership level
- A young(ish!), supportive and highly effective Senior Leadership Team
- Approachable and helpful colleagues
- Easy to use systems that enable the effective use of data to raise attainment
- A consequence-led behaviour system that builds restorative practice and positive relationships
Above all, the key reason staff stay at Wensleydale is our students. They are the key factor in making the school a welcoming and friendly learning environment, and they are committed to adhering to and respecting the ten key behaviours that shape the school’s mission and ethos.
Where our staff live and travel from is diverse. Leeds and the towns and cities of the North East are all commutable, and we border the Lake District, Lancashire, County Durham, and Yorkshire & Humber regions. If relocation is required, a salary advance to assist with relocation costs may be available up to a maximum of £1000.
“Our children are fantastic. They come to lessons eager to learn, are respectful and really embrace the opportunities that you give them. They are a pleasure to teach.”
Richard Lundie, Assistant Head Teacher
